Luxembourg is facing a growing challenge when it comes to meeting its ambitions to become a digital nation – there simply isn’t enough local tech talent to fill all of the open positions required by local companies. And this gap is only growing each year, with current figures showing around 1,200 highly skilled tech professionals missing from the market.
nexten.io, an ambitious startup launched in March 2018, takes this challenge head-on through its innovative online platform that connects highly skilled tech talent from around the world with job opportunities on the Luxembourg market. An alternative to recruitment agencies, job boards and social media scouting, nexten.io makes the recruitment process more attractive and convenient for both candidates and companies through a simplified and accelerated approach.
“Our slogan is ‘Tech Hires Tech,’” explains Eric Busch, CEO of nexten.io. “Developers don’t want to jump through all the hoops of multiple HR interviews at company after company when looking for a new job. Instead, we connect them directly with both the HR and the Tech Lead at interested companies, where they can discuss the real nuts and bolts of the position with someone who speaks their language,” he says.
Software developers and other tech experts such as data scientists or systems administrators create a free profile showcasing their skills and experience, and then pass an HR screening call before they are accepted to the platform. “We aim to find the best candidates, and only accept about 15%,” explains Busch. Once accepted, tech leads from interested companies can message them directly through the platform.
For companies, nexten.io represents a high-quality pipeline for pre-vetted tech talent actively interested in new job opportunities. This cuts down on hours spent searching for and sending cold emails to developers through other job sites, and can result in making a highly qualified new hire in just days instead of months. And companies are accompanied by the platform’s talent coaches, who are in regular touch with candidates and can help match them to the right positions.
“There are three key benefits for companies, who can create a profile and start using the platform for free,” says Lasha Abzianidze, Talent Coach Manager. “The first is that they have full control over their profile, with features like saved searches and alerts. They also can see all of the key details about potential candidates, from salary expectations, to technical skills, to available start date. And finally, they can immediately chat online with candidates, all of which speeds up and improves the hiring process,” he says.
Not content to rest on their laurels, the nexten.io team also wants to help grow the tech scene in Luxembourg to attract more international experts to the country, and to encourage home-grown talent through coding initiatives aimed at children and teens. This October marked the launch of the Nexten Community (community.nexten.io) for software developers and tech experts, which aims to bring together the tech community through events like tech talks and workshops, as well as a community site where developers can find out what is happening around them.
