– The new generation of Cluster-in-a-box from Fujitsu is a flexible and ready-to-run Integrated System that can be operational in under one hour to deliver a small but highly available data center
– The fast, affordable and risk-free route to business continuity and operational efficiency is achieved due to the harmonization and factory-integration of up-to-date components

Hans-Dieter Wysuwa, Executive Vice President, Service Platform, Global Product Business, Fujitsu.
“With Cluster-in-a-box, the whole is greater than the sum of the components – guaranteed by Fujitsu to be compatible. This ‘small but complete’ data center is a ready-to-run Integrated System that perfectly fits the needs of mid-sized organizations and branch offices. Turning it on and spending a few minutes with the configuration wizard means it is up and running in less than an hour. With the new tailoring options and its ability to act in parallel as a high availablity Windows NAS storage for other devices, Cluster-in-a-box has a unique selling proposition in this market.”

Run servers and storage

When it comes to high availability (HA) within ICT projects, end customers are often deterred by fears that the solution is too complex, too expensive, too time comsuming or too difficult to work with, especially for smaller projects. For this reason, mid-sized organizations and branch offices with intensive compute and storage requirements are often looking for a simplified, yet fail-safe and integrated IT infrastructure.

Ideally this should additionally be trouble free to source, implement and operate while delivering the benefits of virtualization. Fujitsu’s Cluster-in-a-box meets exactly these needs – it is a balanced combination of two servers, shared storage, and networking components in one compact enclosure which optionally also includes virtualization. Furthermore, the system can be run at everyday ambient temperatures without the need for a dedicated cooling environment.

High availability cluster

Fujitsu’s Cluster-in-a-box is based either on the FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY BX400 blade servers or the FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY CX420 density-optimized servers. Both systems offer a stable, future-proof basis for high availablity infrastructures and are equipped with Intel Xeon processors. The operating systems, Microsoft Windows Server 2012R Datacenter or Microsoft Windows Server 2012R Standard, are pre-installed on servers in the high availability cluster.

The Cluster-in-a-box has a single order code for the entire predefined HA configuration. Alternatively, variables such as CPU, memory and disks can all be ordered individually via a simplified system configuration process. There is also a free choice of operating system editions and network connections. In the case of FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY BX400 the form factor – stand -alone or rackable – can even be selected.

Fujitsu’s Cluster-in-a-box can additionally be used as a Windows NAS Storage device. Thanks to the newly released disk extensions with FUJITSU Storage ETERNUS JX60, overall storage capacity can be extended to 72 or even 140 disks.
