The former Chief Executive Officer of SWIFT encourages Luxembourg CIO’s to be in the Inner Circle
Monday at BIL (Banque Internationale à Luxembourg), Luxembourgish CIO’s and CIONET members will may attend a exceptional keynote by Lázaro Campos, a captain of the financial industry. During 25 years, Lázaro Campos climbed the SWIFT organisation and ran the Financial messaging institution last 5 years.
During a meeting organised by CIONET Luxembourg, Lázaro Campos will talk about the ways of CIO’s must communicate with their CEO and Board. He will also point the CEO expectations over the CIO’s role and mission.
Lázaro Campos is a well-knowed leader in the Financial Industry. After 25 years with SWIFT and the last five of which were successful years as CEO, Lázaro Campos announced some months ago his intention to pursue opportunities outside SWIFT. Under his leadership, SWIFT embarked on an ambitious growth and transformational strategy (SWIFT2015), almost doubling volumes, maintaining excellent operational performance while successfully reducing costs by 30%, and prices by 50%. Campos was the CEO of Swift untill 30th June 2012.

Lázaro Campos was appointed CEO of SWIFT on 23 April 2007. He joined SWIFT in 1987, with postings in Education and Standards. Lázaro served as Manager, FIN Products and Value Added Services from 1993 until 1995. From 1995 to 1998, he was Director of Market Infrastructure Services with responsibility for multiple domestic and international market infrastructure projects, including ECHO, CHAPS Euro, EBA Clearing and TARGET. Lázaro served as Director of Treasury Markets, where he managed the CLS project for SWIFT from 1998 to 2000. Lázaro was then appointed Head of Marketing where he led the SWIFT strategy initiative. In October 2003 he became Head of the Banking Industry Division until his CEO appointment. Lázaro has over twenty years’ international banking and telecommunications experience. Prior to joining SWIFT he served in the international division of Banc Agricol. He is Spanish.
