Dimension Data technology is being used in one of the most prestigious races on the cycling calendar, Tour de France. Discover some highlights and data from stage 15 of the Tour de France, a 183 km race going from Mende to Valence.

Stage Highlights

• Andre Greipel (LTS) showed he is the best bunch sprinter in the Tour by taking his 3rd stage victory after beating his compatriot John Degenkolb (TGA).
• Peter Sagan (TCS) entered the break early in the race and won the intermediate sprint which secured him the green jersey for a 7th time this year, he will also be wearing the red number today after being recognised as the most combative rider on yesterday’s stage.
• It was another good day for Team MTN Qhubeka with a perfect lead out by Reinardt Janse van Rensberg for teammate Edvald Boasson Hagen. Boasson Hagen did well to finish 5th in the bunch gallop; just off the podium.

• The relatively flat final 30 kms leading up to the stage finish in Valence favoured the sprinters, it was their last time to shine before the final stage in Paris.

• 91.78 km/h – the top speed recorded on the stage; Reinardt Janse van Rensburg (MTN) on the descent from Col de l’Escrinet.
• 22.79 km/h – average speed of riders up Col de l’Escrinet; less than half the average speed of 58.31 km/h riders achieved on their descend down the same category 2 climb.
• 12 – the number of sprints so far on this year’s route, sprinters have had very few opportunities to shine with all the uphill finishes.
• 54.43 km/h – the average speed of yesterday’s stage winner, Greipel (LTS), in the last kilometre.
• 40.52 km/h – average speed of Chris Froome (SKY) on the stage, he has held the yellow jersey for the last 9 consecutive stages and the polka-dot jersey for the last 6 stages.
