Data World 2024 – A Groundbreaking Event by WeSTEM+
The Data World 2024 event, hosted by WeSTEM+ (Women Excel in STEM) at Amazon, brought together over 120 attendees from diverse industries to connect, engage, and explore opportunities within the fields of HR, data, and analytics.
November 7, 2024
This inclusive networking event welcomed professionals from the public and private sectors, job seekers, and aspiring tech talents, marking a new chapter in WeSTEM+’s mission to foster growth, collaboration, and inclusivity in STEM. The event was the first in-person gathering since WeSTEM+ rebranded in July 2024, reflecting its mission to empower women and underrepresented groups while inspiring the next generation to pursue science, technology, engineering and math. Co-founders Alexandra Nastase, Patricia Souza, and Vasiliki Moschou introduced the organization’s ongoing goals: supporting and educating underrepresented groups and promoting inclusivity in STEM.
The panel discussion, featuring leaders in IT and HR, highlighted the crucial role of diversity and inclusion (D&I) in recruitment and leadership. Panelists shared insights on building inclusive opportunities and preventing self-rejection among marginalized groups, emphasizing leadership as a behavior rather than a title and fostering an inclusive work culture. Following the panel, attendees engaged in a dynamic World Café-style networking session, where small group discussions encouraged deeper connections and collaboration. Workshops were also offered, including on site sessions on job search best practices and future workshops to be organized on public speaking, providing valuable tools for career growth.
Event sponsors Amazon Women in Engineering and Ville de Luxembourg hosted booths, giving attendees the opportunity to connect with women engineers and explore IT roles within the city’s expanding digital landscape. “The turnout and engagement at Data World 2024 exceeded our expectations, thanks to the enthusiastic support of our sponsors, partners, and attendees,” said Patricia Souza, Co-Founder of WeSTEM+. “This event is just the beginning as we work to empower and elevate women and underrepresented groups in STEM.”Stay connected with WeSTEM+ on LinkedIn and Instagram for updates on upcoming programs, events, and opportunities to get involved.
