  • Thales launched a new AI security and governance solution, built with IBM watsonx, to help organizations adopt AI securely while helping users ensure compliance.
  • Leveraging IBM watsonx.governance, the solution enables organizations to manage risk, ensure compliance and oversee the entire AI lifecycle
  • At Thales, we noticed that AI governance is key for most companies currently investing in AI. We are also convinced that those companies will also need to get protected against new external threats targeting AI. For this reason, we are also partnering with IBM on the AI Security subject.

As generative AI reshapes industries at an unprecedented pace, Luxembourg is finding itself at the heart of this transformation.

The country’s unique blend of financial strength and innovation — with over 120 international banks, key EU institutions, and a fast-growing tech sector — provide favorable conditions for responsible AI adoption. The latest (Gen)AI and Data Use in Luxembourg Survey 2025 reveals that about 50% of organizations achieve high maturity while using AI. Setting up comprehensive AI governance remains a priority for companies on the road to EU AI Act compliance.

New AI Governance Solution

To help organizations navigate regulatory demands while unlocking the potential of AI, Thales has partnered with IBM to develop a new AI security and governance solution. The new solution is built with watsonx.governance, IBM’s end-to-end toolkit for AI governance that helps organisations manage risk, compliance and the entire AI lifecycle.

Our new AI and governance solution, developed with IBM, addresses the unique challenges of AI adoption in Luxembourg – helping users adhere to strict governance and compliance with European, international and local regulations. This pioneering offering is set to transform the market and deliver far-reaching benefits for companies – from improved efficiency and productivity to enhanced competitiveness and growth,” said Lionel Thonnatte, Managing Partner at Thales Luxembourg.

As the demand for secure and compliant AI solutions continues to grow, we helped Thales to develop and launch a new AI and governance solution tailored to the Luxembourg market. With IBM watsonx.governance, the solution automatically applies rules, monitors data, and manages risks – making it easier for companies to build trust in AI,” said Dominique Parent, Embedded Solutions Sales – Technology Partner Seller from IBM.

A unique solution with built-in governance

Developed by Thales (also an IBM Business partner) and IBM, this unique solution for the Luxembourg market combines IBM watsonx.governance from the IBM’s flagship portfolio of AI products with Thales deep expertise in cybersecurity – particularly in delivering top-class Cyber Threat Intelligence, incident response, SIEM, SOC, and SOAR services. The solution was developed through a close collaboration between Thales experts and management, working closely with the IBM Client Engineering. A design workshop held at the IBM Montpellier Data Center in France led to the first draft of the AI security and governance framework.

Capitalising on technological collaboration with IBM, our Secure AI Journey guides customers to adopt AI confidently by embedding security, from education and use-case design to governance and risk management, helping implement secure frameworks to ensure AI systems remain protected against emerging threats.Thales invests over €100 million annually in AI and cybersecurity R&D, notably through CortAIx, our global AI innovation hub with 800 specialists developing trusted AI for critical sectors.

Improved productivity and centralized data tracking

The new solution will help organizations :

  • Harness the potential of AI applications while ensuring compliance with European, international, and local regulations in Luxembourg
  • Improve efficiency and productivity – it automatically applies governance rules across AI models and datasets, reducing the time and manual effort teams spend on compliance checks.
  • Ensure faster decision-making – With governance and compliance integrated into workflows, teams can confidently deploy AI without waiting for manual approvals.
  • Centralises data tracking and risk management – preventing errors and costly delays.
