ROOT S.A., Luxembourg’s provider of hosting solutions, part of XBT Holding, Ltd., has today announced its continued expansion by moving part of its infrastructure to new datacenter facilities. The new location will provide increased capacity as well as better energy efficiency and security.

ROOT’s new home, which will operate in addition to its own datacenter, is hosted within LuxConnect’s ICT Campus Bissen/Roost DC2 datacenter, one of the biggest and most reliable in Europe. Operational since April 2012, the datacenter offers a mix of Tier 2 and Tier 4 rooms. The LuxConnect datacenter uses free cooling when the outside temperature drops below 8°C and hybrid cooling towers when it rises above that temperature. The use of free cooling and waterless cooling stations ensures a low ecological impact and reduced energy bills for customers.

The self-heated datacenter also features an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) and transformer infrastructure that has been designed to support variable loads and capacities at a low energy consumption level. Security personnel are also present on site 24 hours a day. For customers on ROOT’s server.lu platform migration has already been completed, while migration of site.lu continues. A combination of live migrations and replication is keeping downtime to a minimum.

The new, improved datacenter facilities mean ROOT can provide more reliable services to its customers while remaining in the geographical center of Europe.

”Luxembourg is the strategic location in Europe and one of the leading financial gateways. Affordable dedicated hosting solutions in this region are in great demand by local and international customers looking to grow business operations to Europe with minimum latencies,” – said Konstantin Bezruchenko, CTO of XBT Holding, of which ROOT is a subsidiary, –  “We continue to invest in further development of ROOT in Luxembourg – a move to a new datacenter facility is just a part of the strategic growth plan.”
