Dimension Data’s Cloud has the best cost effectiveness

Saugatuck Technology’s research reveals that the flexibility of Dimension Data’s cloud services can provide significant value versus other solutions.

Industry research firm underscores value of Dimension Data cloud services for enterprises seeking cost-efficiency.

Saugatuck Technology featured Dimension Data in its report Understanding Cloud Infrastructure Costs: Navigating for Savings for the potential cost benefits of its cloud solutions. Saugatuck’s research reveals that the flexibility of Dimension Data’s cloud services can provide significant value versus other solutions.

The report identifies the most significant costs resulting from utilising cloud IT infrastructure and compares in-house against commercially available services. The Saugatuck report comes hot on the heels of another report by The Tolly Group that highlights performance as a critical factor in determining the true cost of cloud.

Saugatuck’s findings reinforce Dimension Data’s differentiation based on price and on the value of our enterprise-class Public CaaS solutions,” said Olivier Posty, Cloud Sales and Development Director at Dimension Data Europe. “We have purpose-built our offering to provide the granular configuration and controls our clients require, while maintaining the flexibility needed to allow them to realize true cost savings.”

Cloud Cost Optimized

Dimension Data allows clients to choose the levels of CPU, memory and storage they need for their specific workload. For this report, Saugatuck Technology compared the total cost of ownership (TCO) of in-house (private) cloud solutions against several public cloud infrastructure offerings, including Dimension Data’s Public Compute-as-a-Service (CaaS). Saugatuck also performed analyses for different types of small, medium and large workload infrastructure offerings, and evaluated these based on three different levels of cost efficient “variably optimised environments” including highly optimised, 20% less optimised, and 50% less optimised. Saugatuck found that when running a small workload, Dimension Data’s solutions were significantly less in terms of representative costs versus the other public cloud offerings for all scenarios listed, and proved less expensive than in-house solutions in two of the three variably optimised environments.

Amish Patel, Cloud Applications Manager at Aerohive Networks said: “We were shocked by how fast the return on investment came after we fully deployed our production application in the Dimension Data cloud.”

Take the cost control of the Cloud

The Dimension Data Cloud Business Unit provides a suite of cloud services that help clients accelerate their business with pay-for-use public cloud servers, private cloud hosting and cloud enablement and integration services. Dimension Data’s public cloud and private cloudservices are delivered via its Managed Cloud Platform (MCP), comprised of cloud infrastructure (cloud servers, storage, networking, and software) and Dimension Data CloudControl™, a cloud management system that provides operational control and automation of cloud resource provisioning, orchestration, administration and billing.

Today, cloud services can be accessed globally via MCPs in San Jose, Calif., and Ashburn, Va., U.S.; Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Sydney, Australia; Johannesburg, South Africa; Tokyo, Japan and Hong Kong, China.
