We are seeking a Senior Robotics Simulation Engineer to lead the development of our simulation infrastructure. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing a unified simulation pipeline that integrates 3D scanning, robot programming, and recipe validation workflows. As a hands-on leader, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless transition from virtual environments to physical robotic systems, driving innovation and efficiency in our robotic disassembly cells.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, and implement the simulation stack for robotic disassembly cells, integrating across robot programming, middleware, and CAD environments.
  • Build and maintain an automated recipe validation pipeline, including 3D scan ingestion, simulation of disassembly recipes, collision and force limit checks, and deployment-ready program output.
  • Establish and maintain a single geometric source of truth across simulation, robot controllers, and CAD to ensure seamless coordinate transfer to physical machines.
  • Develop PLC emulation and virtual commissioning capabilities for high-fidelity testing of safety interlocks, sensor triggers, and I/O sequences.
  • Design simulation architecture to support layered fidelity, enabling rapid kinematic checks and full dynamic simulation for final validation.
  • Collaborate with middleware, perception, and mechanical design teams to synchronize simulation models with evolving robotic cell designs.
  • Create CI/CD workflows for simulation, including automated regression testing, version-controlled simulation assets, and reproducible test environments.
  • Contribute to the long-term architecture for ML-assisted recipe generation using simulation as the feedback loop.
  • Document simulation procedures, validation criteria, and deployment best practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience building or maintaining simulation environments for industrial robot manipulation.
  • Proficiency in at least one industrial robot simulation platform (e.g., KUKA.Sim, RoboDK, NVIDIA Isaac Sim).
  • Strong Python and C++ skills for automation scripting, tool integration, and pipeline development.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with KUKA robots (KRL, KUKA.Sim, KUKA.OfficeLite virtual controller).
  • Experience with PLC simulation.
  • Experience with 3D scanning pipelines (point cloud to mesh to simulation-ready model).
  • Working knowledge of ROS2 (nodes, topics, TF2, launch files).
  • Understanding of robot kinematics, dynamics, collision detection, and motion planning.
  • Background in ML/AI (reinforcement learning, synthetic data, sim-to-real transfer).
  • Self-directed engineer comfortable building a function from scratch with minimal supervision.
